Swearing In a person

Hello, I was asked to swear in a person for a court process. How much would you charge for that and where would you do it?

I forgot to mention that it has to be in front of a flag.

There must be someplace nearby where you can buy a tiny desktop flag in a little stand.

Fire stations and police stations all have flags. I'm guessing most, if not all, city halls and courthouses have flags flying.

Anyone do this in AZ?

I am in AZ. I have never been asked to do do it in front of

a flag. Depositions don't last long usually (in my experience).

If she does that, most likely, they'll be outside in whatever weather or inside in a public place. I would prefer privacy myself.

Shouldn't I be notarizing something also? This would be my first time. What wording should I use, or will this be given to me before the phone hearing?

I don't remember. Ask the hiring party what to expect. n/m

Oh, I get it. I thought you were going to swear in someone to public office. I would think there would be something for you to notarize saying that you checked the identity of the person. Check the deposition papers when they arrive.

What has the flag got to do with depositions? Is that a way to prove the person is still in this country or what? There are flags to stand in front of at the courtroom in the courthouse and perhaps in municipal hall (where city council meets or the municipal judge holds court). American Legion and VFW halls also have them. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have them.

**I would think there would be something for you to notarize saying that you checked the identity of the person.**

Why?

What notary law would suggest that is necessary?

Sometimes things sound sensible, but are not necessarily a requirement of the law.

I believe that this is because neither the beautiful San Antonio saloon girl Maycom Du Wright (who eventually married a small time pirate-drifter whose great-nephew eventually founded the first Lazy River and Blue Lagoon Adventure ride at Astroworld in the late 60's), nor her half-brother, Ettsheaux Auwda Beyalaw from New Orleans were taken seriously when the Texas Constitution was written.

If that doesn't make any sense, I will try to explain next time I sign on. What it boils down to is that you can't depend on what seems like it ought to be a law, etc.

Your local city hall, police station, fire station, library will have a flag. Swear in outside in the 110 heat and go inside to the lobby to do the paperwork.

You don't have to have outside flag, which would be over your head. Go inside to those public offices mentioned.

Ok, not really. I don't keep a flag with me; however, I couldn't resist the opportunity NaNa

Re: I carry a twelve inch flag in my car at all times

I'm kinda serious about the stuff....I couldn't do it (fly same flag for more than ten years) in the same country.

I don't know about AZ, but I've been called to put people

under oath for telephone hearings. I charge my minimum fee for GNW, which is $25. I always arrange to get paid when I arrive, and then leave as soon as the swearing in is over. The judge also usually dismisses me.
As far as the flag is concerned, I've never heard of that. I guess they want to make sure it's in the USA for jurisdiction purposes.

Me too, same, never a flag issue but mine have always been divorce cases with children issues involved. No Judge has ever asked if I was in front of or near a flag.
