Worked briefly for Mr. Testa in 2012. Unfortunately would have to say that the pay he offered--which was low for the area and necessitated a counter fee from me. He balked at the higher fee, saying that he wasn't getting that much on the assignments to begin with, and had to make some money.

On one assignment with him, when the edocs were received it was noted that faxbacks (almost the entire package) were required. I called and asked him about it, and tried to increase my fee to cover the faxbacks. Mr. Testa told me that most of the title companies he works with (at that time) required faxbacks and I should be expecting not only to have faxbacks with all his assignments, but more faxbacks in the future since this is what the industry is/was moving towards. The funny thing is that during that same time I worked with some of those same TC only with other signing services; in those assignments they didn't require faxbacks. I told him I would be adding $25 to the fee on my invoice to cover the cost of the faxbacks. My payment for that assignment was shorted exactly $25. That was my last assignment with him.

Thanks Linda for your input. Couldn't seem to find any listing for his co. The way he talked he has been in business for about 6 years, and doing thousands of appt. a month. ??
Yet, no info on his Co. ? Have not had a call from him before this one, and I like to check out the co's I work for BEFORE sticking my neck out. Thanks again.

A notary that outsources...

do a "Find a Notary" zip 49232 - William K. Testa

Also, if you do a search using just "testa" there's a couple threads he's responded to - one in February, 2013 I believe.

He either is not a "formal" signing service, but just a notary that outsources jobs, or he's flying under the radar as far as being able to be listed in SC and rated. Found another one like that yesterday that I contacted NotRot about.

Re: A notary that outsources...

This is correct. Many of the large settlement companies I contract with are very specific to confirm I am doing the closing and am not assigning it to any one else.

Key point here.

No offense to all NRs, but . . .
Alice send me a PM so we can discuss more off board. Details and "minutia" that would bore others and take up space for more important discussions.
