What would you do?

I received a call from a new client (Yea!) in need of a signing agent for a purchase. Checked Notary Rotary for the name of the client--nothing. Checked other reputable sources to check out the company---nothing. Googled it. The company came up, website looks professional, they offered me a great fee for the job, took it. Docs arrived, printed, assignment went without a hitch. Rec'd email saying the fed ex label was coming. Didn't happen--no FedEx/Return label, no account # info in the packet. East coast company (I'm out West) so phone calls went unanswered as well as emails. Would you drop the package and hope for reimbursement or wait for shipping label.

Regards,
Monique

Wait. If they won't talk to you now do you really think you'll get paid/reimbursed?

Re: Couldn't have said this any better than you! Hiphip hooray!

Thanks! I did wait for the label and actually took the time to scan the docs and email them even though not "required." But, I was feeling awfully guilty for not dropping the same day on a purchase. I guess we'll see how it works out, i.e. if I get paid.

I DO agree with BevTx.

Must have label with paper work, a big must with me. Don't carry labels and will not use my account to make labels (charge back issues in past) I lost a SS because I wanted a label with the docs. Oh well 99% of the companies I work for supply them and they keep me busy.

I have no problem doing a handwritten label and I DO keep a supply on hand from various FexEx offices, not ones with my account # on them. As has been suggested here many times in the past, I just put recipient info for both sender and recipient.

When we accept an assignment, we are "pre-funding", in a sense, the paper, toner and gas to get there, as hard costs. That's actual money out of our pocket. I have a policy to never fund up front anything beyond that (unless maybe it's a simple postage stamp, which I can afford to lose). The shipping should always be the responsibility of the client. On any given day, especially at end-of-month, someone can forget to provide shipping info or a label, but that's on them. You went above and beyond by scanning the whole package, just in case.

I do heartily agree, however, with the post in a new thread above by 101Livescan that the shipping should be set up while docs are printing. This won't always solve the problem, but the sooner someone realizes that they don't have shipping info, the better their chances for getting it before the appointment.

Trident Title

I've worked with them in the past, they have many offices in Florida. Leave a v/m for your contact. Pay well & at disbursement.
