Massive power outage affects 145,000 Central Coast customers
PG&E reported the outage began between 9:25 p.m. and 9:45 p.m Sunday.
PG&E's Twitter page states the outage is a result of equipment failure, and does not involve the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
At its peak, 145,000 customers were without power. PG&E is reporting that currently 9,500 customers remain without power..
As of 1:00 a.m. power has been restored to all but 3 customers in Santa Maria. In San Luis Obispo, 741 customers remain without power.
In Buellton, 5,764 customers are in the dark. In Atascadero, 8,342 customers are affected. And in Ballard, 3,842 customers are still without power.
NewsChannel 3 spoke with a PG&E representative Sunday evening and found out a team is on the way to investigate the outage. Power is slowly being restored, but there is no estimate regarding full restoration.
I had just brushed my teeth and plugged in my phone, headed for bed. Good timing. Power is now back on.

Sometimes it's a good thing to "sleep through the whole thing." Hope this outage didn't affect getting your morning cup of java!
Be safe on the road today, Cheryl. It's raining in my area.

I was about to go out into the yard and rake around the trees, and suddenly a fierce cold wind came up, clouds moved in and it began to drizzle heavily...end of yard work concept. Can't afford to be sick again, working in the damp and cold, freezing wind. So I fired up a bowl of chicken soup and headed to bed early...I hardly missed the power outage as I was ready to sleep hard after a long hard week, including Saturday.
