I first experienced it when I rented a mini-van for the drive from NY to TX when I moved here in 2011. It was so nice not having to search for a local station to listen to, especially in certain states along the way. Shortly after I got here, I bought a car that a had Sirius/XM radio installed, so I signed up for the service. It's a tad expensive, but now I listen to what I want to listen to when I'm in the car.
I'm considering buying one of those portable radios that you can move from the car to your home...

Just FYI, I have had Sirius or XM since 2007 and have never paid full price, always paid half-price or less at every renewal. When you are right at your renewal date (or just before your "free months for a new vehicle ends" call them and tell them you want to cancel "because it is just too expensive for radio". They ALWAYS offer 1/2 price for a year or $25 for 6 months (which is better but a pain to have to deal with every 6 months). I have never paid more than 1/2 price. Just renewed one of my vehicles 2 days ago for the 8th yr in a row. If they don't offer half-price just hang up and call back.
DO NOT let it auto-renew or your negotiation power is null. I always request direct billing with no CC onfile (they charge an extra $2 per YEAR for that).

It came in my Escape & I never really got into it. I know
others that can't live without it. BTW, because I didn't subscribe, they are constantly sending me offers for like $5/mo. to continue.

Sorry, $2...$5....not forever
Sirius came pre-installed when I bought a new car in 2006. Traded it in last year but still wanted it so I switched to the internet version so I could list on my desktop, laptop or smartphone. Love it as the internet version as much as I did when it was in the car. BTW, that $2 or $5 teaser is for a few months....not forever...been there, done that!

Love channel #82!!!!
I probably won't renew, it came free and there is a lot of smut out there too and with teenagers and a kindergartner in the car I don't want them exposed to it.

60's on the 6, classic vinyl, deep tracks, Dead Heads...
If not listening to Sirius, I most often listen to a set of educational lectures on CD's. Just finished a series on contract law. Rock on!
