So-Cal Signings

Anybody heard from these people lately? I can't believe they are still in business. The nice young man from scheduling called me yesterday for a signing. He told me it paid $75.00. I asked him what happened to the $100.00 they used to offer for signings. He said the most he could get it approved for was $85.00 I told him that wasn't enough considering I would have to wait four months, have to make a whole lot of telephone calls, and hear a whole bunch of different excuses as to why my payment wasn't sent out for Lisa to finally pay me with one of her pretty checks. I'm not going through that crap again. Once bitten.....twice shy......twice bitten.......never again!

Interesting, I have been getting ALOT of calls from them (which I've turned down). Just yesterday I was thinking that whatever notary they using in my area must have gotten tired of chasing money and they were looking for someone who didn't know better.

Too bad about this company... It used to be a really great company. Small, accurate, complete packages that were sent over immediately upon confirmation of assignment and payment within 30 days. Wonder what happened to them? They used to pay $100. per assignment and had great telephone support. I did a lot of work for them when I was a new notary. I stopped taking their assignments when they reduced their fees to $85. On my last phone call with them, the scheduler got mad at me for not taking their $85 assignment and told me "There's plenty of notaries in your area that will take $85 all day long...call us if you change your mind". I never changed my mind and never called them back. Now, I get so many calls from companies offering $115-$150 per signing that I'm very glad I stuck to my fee schedule and chose to part ways with the companies who offered below $100. per signing. I am a good notary...I've never had a loan package rejected and the borrowers I work with have all given me great reviews. There are companies out there that are willing to pay for good notaries who will deliver a flawless signing and keep their clients happy.

Re: SoCal Signings..Tudi they were one of the first SS I

Worked for when I became a notary to. I also stopped when they lowered their fees to $85.00 and pmt to 45 days too. I told Lisa (enjoyed working with her) that I could get sick, go into hospice care and die before I would get paid. We laughed about it but I never worked for her again.

TRUE THAT!!!!

I had a couple of files today with glitches that a lowball notary would not have had a clue what to do with or how to handle with tact. Or, they simply would have said, "I don't get paid enough to deal with this XXXX" and would have bailed.

Re: SoCal Signings

I have performed about 15 signings for SoCal and have always been paid. Yes they are slow in paying but I am used to that and have adjusted my income to accept a 45 to 60 pay. Once you are used to a 45 to 60 pay schedule the money still keeps rolling in day after day. My advice is do not get hung up if the SS does not pay within 30 days. Most will pay within the 60 day window.

Gary--do they meet your fee?

Because really, it's a matter of losing money immediately, or losing it 45 to 60 days out...

Re: SoCal Signings

Gary, on Friday I completed four closings and invoiced a total of $725 - I will receive payment from these companies in less than 10 days. It would not make business sense for me to bog down my schedule with jobs from lowball companies that pay 45-60 days out. Do I invoice this much every work day? No - Friday seems to be the busiest day of the week for me, but I do OK on the other days of the week too!
