I'm getting lines across the pages i'm printing and I'm thinking it's the drum that gone bad. Has anyone ever replaced one? or is it too late and I should just go purchase another one. comments welcome. tnx

The drum is part of the toner cartridge in HP printers
If changing the cartridge doesn't clear up your problem, use compressed air to thoroughly clean out the interior of the printer.

Teresa is right. You can try to clean the drum.
Take the cartridge out and very carefully slide the plastic thingy that covers the drum (drum is green) up/down (not side to side). DO NOT TOUCH THE GREEN DRUM OR ALL IS LOST. What you'll see is some black toner where your streaks are. Wipe the drum with a tissue---again--do not touch with fingers or anything but the tissue. You can usually get some more copies out of it. But, you do need a new cartridge and this is an emergency method.

Thank you, I'm kinda rushed so I will check tyour suggestions (both) out when I return from my signing. I just put the Docs on a flash drive and had office depot print them for me in the mean time. thanks again.

Did I understand you correctly, James? " Docs on a flash drive and had office depot print them for me in the mean time." You allowed OD employee handle those docs? If there's a next time, you may want to take that flash drive to Kinkos/Fedex and print them yourself. Just a thought .......

Re: YOU heard me correctly I
stood there and watched them copy the Docs and give them to me. Just as if I had did them myself on their equipment. No problem!

Re: Printing Privacy concerns
Hi James, no offense but Yolanda made a good point and just something to think about for next time.
There exists a legitimate concern with someone else just seeing the docs much less handling them.
My FirstAm EO won't leave her screen on, or walk away from her desk where someone may inadvertently be able to just SEE any information. That's something that most SA's may be unaware of, and something to ponder for security purposes.
If, you were to take this a step further, is there any guarantee that these larger printers don't use a hard drive for storing the file before printing unlike our smaller printers that only use RAM?
It may at first glance sound nit-picky but there would be nothing worse than leaving a file behind on a printer hard drive if that's the case. I doubt that they have built-in file erasers.
Here is an article you may wish to glance over regarding printer security concerns.
"Like a computer, the internal hard drive on a digital printer stores a copy of everything you print or photocopy, and this security risk is often overlooked by major companies,"
