Hand delivering docs request??

What do you do when are asked to hand deliver the documents AFTER completing the closing? There are 2 of us that work full time jobs and can't deliver such requests. I politely told the SS that we can fax back critical docs and overnight it but we would have needed to know about the hand delivery request prior to accepting the closing.

I guess it would depend on time and distance for me

For me it's a non-issue - but if title were within driving distance I'd try to work it out with them - for an additional fee, of course. That's a courtesy that would not be included in my base rate. The discount they get on overnight shipping rates would probably be far less than what I'd charge.

Usually it wouldn't be an issue but title is on the other side of town about 35 miles away and I have a really long client meeting for one of my other jobs today.

An additional 70 mile round trip is always an issue for me

and I would not do that kind of service for my base fee;

Good to know other people won't do it for the base fee either.

How about they come pick em up? if it's so critical and after the fact. Don't you just love the BTW's? we need you to...

I was asked to meet a rep of the SS. I told them when and where I could meet and hope that's good enough.

And yes I just love the BTWs! I wouldn't be able to complete some of these closings if I'd known some of the info before hand.

This is where the taxi cab meter comes in handy, for $50 I can drive your documents any where, any time, within 25 miles, provided time permits..LOL

Exactly, Cheryl. Many a time, after they find out that me dropping them off the next morning means another trip fee (at minimum), I've often ended up leaving them on my porch for someone from their office who lives out my way to swing by to pick up the docs. (I should note that my porch can't be seen from the street, so it's very safe. Never been an issue.) Over the years, I've also done a few handoffs in parking lots. Probably had a lot of people wondering what we were up to... Wink

If they are within driving distance and willing to pay for time/gas and it doesn't conflict with my schedule, I don't have any problem doing this.

I don't either. I generally like to go introduce myself to LOs because I feel it is good business practice. Where the problem is is that it was not disclosed up front prior to accepting the signing. Today is seriously conflicts with my schedule.

You either can or you can't. If they don't discuss it with you up front, then they can't expect you to do it. I think some times they just ask to see what they can get away with. I'm happy to help them out if they pay for my time/expenses and my schedule allows for it. A few times, I've even dropped off docs after a signing without adding anything extra, but that was when the tc was either on my way home or very close to the BOs location. But this was disclosed and agreed upon up front.

Seems to me there was a ss that seemed to slip in that request fairly often, after the fact. It got to the point that I was wondering if it wasn't just their MO. I can't remember who it was, but I don't think I work for them any more....

Anything not disclosed when I accept the job gets charged an additional trip fee and if I can't do what they want it's their problem, not mine...
