JMT
I got a call to do a closing and they accepted MY fee for a change. I thought maybe they were tired of messing around with mistakes and redraws and had wised up. WRONG. The package was 166 pages and nothing was said about paying extra for such a large package like when they are small we should do them for less. Thier code of ethics is so off base I've asked to removed from thier list. How disgusting.

Re: JMT - Are they in Visalia, CA?
They are in Visalia... I did a quicken refi for them a few weeks ago...documents were great, sent early, absolutely no problem, and met my fee. I will say they have offered other jobs to me, but didn't take them because of the fee they wanted to pay, and they apparently found someone to do it on their terms.

I disagree
IMHO, the notary needs to be clear - from the start - that THEIR fee includes/excludes.....<whatever>, and if the job discussed is NOT exactly the edoc file received, the hiring party will receive a followup call to negotiate the ACTUAL job received. If the notary only quotes a fee, with an expectation of a certain job, i.e. " I thought maybe they were tired of messing around with mistakes and redraws and had wised up." and the package is beyond that, it's the notary's fault for assuming.
If the scheduler has limited details of the job, the notary can quote their top fee, then risk losing the signing altogether or take a change and quote their single refi/edoc/X pages/ no fax back fee and risk losing profit on a costly job. But ultimately, the notary cannot berate the company when the notary did not clarify his/her terms from the start. JMHO
