Re: When did a case of paper go from 10 reams to 8 reams?
A case went from 10 reams to 8 reams (at least in a specific situation) whenever some company put 8 reams into a box that was made to hold that many reams, and called it a case. Of course, most cases still have 10 reams, perhaps by tradition, but not by definition. I've seen cases with 5, 8, and 10 reams, respectively. Whenever I see an advertisement for paper, I try to first look at how many REAMS are included, no matter what the final exterior container is called. I've almost made a wasted trip or two to the supply store, to take advantage of a great price per ream, only to realize that the max purchase could be for only one or two reams, not worth the trip.
