Passport ID Card vs. Drivers License

The last time I renewed my Passport I opted for the Passport ID card, which is great for getting through Security check points, you can carry in your pocket, easier than handling your Passport itself.

I'm thinking this is a better tool to use to provide to Vendors, if they will accept it. I am getting a little freaked out about using my DL given what I see happening out there in the world of signing services needing our DL and W9s, and what could happen to our own IDs while we're helping borrowers with their loan process.

I am going to verify with the title companies I work for and see that they say, as I'm just renewing my commission for the next four year term, new background check, EO, bond, etc.

Anyone using their Passport ID card now?

I'm an identity theft victim. Someone in CA is having a great time with my SS No., address, cell phone no., etc.

I'm not sure how they gained access, could be any number of ways but when I first started in business as an NSA, I didn't have an EIN so sent my SS number when signing up with various companies. I've since gotten an EIN.

I guess my point is to say, yes, take every precaution to protect your identity as we don't know where this information is ending up!

Happy signings.
