Speedy closing for Woodstock IL

I got a call for a signing that was 30+ miles away. Turned it down because of low offer. I was wondering why I got the call, since there are many notaries much closer. Checked the rating. If you count down from the top I am number 20 in line for Woodstock IL. Voice sounded a bit desperate, now I understand why.

You should have taken it for $200 and said "will you be paying by Visa, MC, or AMEX today, sir"? just as my massage therapist does when I schedule my appointments. It is nonrefundable and if I cancel the appt. I can reschedule for another date. There is a rescheduling fee of $25.

It's interesting to me the comparisons of fees between us NSAs and doctors or massage therapists recently. Why can those fields expect payments when their time is abused by lateness or cancellations? Because they are considered professionals, while we often are perceived as people sitting at home doing nothing but waiting for a call. How can we change that perception?
