Tired of low offers....

I am now accepting only 90+ offers from SCs. I sincerely feel NSA's should get $ 125- 150 minimum for a loan signing. Everything below this amount is UNFAIR to the poor notaries-- who work so hard and have to INSIDE ppl's homes with a huge stack of unsigned papers. Sometimes I feel Walmart cashiers earn more than notaries. The problem is I have encountered only few companies who are prepared to top $ 100. Can anyone pls tell me how to get work from the ones who have the heart to give NSA's their true share. While taking class for my loan signing at Anaheim , I remember the instructor there-- Joan Bergstrom-- had mentioned few companies, whose names I have completely forgotten, who give $ 150 and sometimes even more. Not only that they also pay quickly! Can anyone pls tell me which are these companies and how can i get work from them. I am fairly new to this business, but i have done a bunch of signings past six months. Any help will be appreciated--- Thanks-- Raj Smile

Then speak up for yourself. I was offered $90 tonight, got $125. Last minute, rush job. You don't have to take low offers (unless you feel compelled to do so).

I would omit "My fees are competitive and client friendly" from your profile. JMO

Just a thought....I have a background in live theater production. Directors and choreographers have a "society" called SSDC. It's not a union, but they do take care of their members. They formulate minimum salaries and general work rules.

Maybe notaries need a society that puts together a minimum pay for each level of signings (based on each area of the country, since some cities would need higher minimums).

We all seem to not want to be low-balled, if there was a minimum standard, it could really help us out.

you need to take time on reading up, educating yourself on this business, spend hours of networking yourself. Thats what most of us notaries have done on this forum, and thats how you learn, but first and foremost, taking $$.$$? Ask yourself is this really worth it? when you get the $70.00 check in the mail, instead of the $$$.$$ check. Shoot for more next time.

That's sound advice. The other thing I consciously (and conscientiously) do is bite only what I can chew, and this way everyone gets a slice of the pie. I had previously been very aggressive in my former business (that was many years ago-- guess I was much younger too and exuberant and also greedy). I wanted everything for myself-- which is a dumb attitude and never really works--- it really worked against me. This time around I am being prudent and diligent and wish to be erudite and well informed, as you recommend. I wanna move slowly and steadily, and I sincerely wish for the fee to increase for us all in Cali—and if possible elsewhere as well. I am still looking for the higher paying companies. I have two or there in my tiny bag. But they assign signings sporadically only.
