Travel Documents

I am a newbie and was contacted to Notarize travel documents for a gentleman who said he has several documents for his two daughters that will be traveling to India. What sort of documents should I expect and is there anything else I should know?

Permission to travel forms

Usually one notarization per letter.
Sample form here. http://www.myfamilytravels.com/assets/pdf/permission_to_travel_letter.pdf
Actual forms vary.
Google "permission letter for minor to travel abroad."

Did you ask him what docs he has to be notarized?

Could be Permission for Minor to Travel Without Parent, Medical Treatment Authorization; if his daughters are traveling with another adult, he may be granting that person certain authorizations. Are the daughters going to India to attend school there? If so, they may have to present certain school documents.

In other words, there's a myriad of possibilities. You need to ask for specifics and know what your State allows.

Yoli: Will you give more information, please?

The few times I’ve notarized authorization to travel forms, it was the travel form only, no other trailing documents. Are we, or should we be, concerned with school or other ancillary documents? Just curious what you may have encountered.

By the way, good morning, my pet!

ID the signer. Ask if they understand what they are signing. If yes
notarize signature. There is no State requirement of any kind.
