Update on Msg 462976. The boss' DO read this forum
So the person who admitted the "shop" was sheepish and very apologetic. Within an hour after my post, their boss called and offered to pay me full fee for the cancelled appt. Apparently the last job the appt setter had (not even in the loan industry) it was common to shop around and they thought they were doing a good thing. They were counseled that this was wrong and the boss offered to make it right for me. I had already filled the slot, so I told them it wasn't necessary. After being assurred this would NEVER happen again, I agreeed to keep the name of the hiring party to myself. So, see...sometimes karma DOES come back atcha'!  There really ARE reputable folks out there.
