Vendor Packet - Supplier Diversity Questionnaire Question
I'm seeing these all the time in vendor packages. Does anyone know what actually qualifies as a minority business? Do you have to be registered that way? Any advice on filling this out. And don't tell me you don't fill out vender agreements. It seems more and more that it's a must.

Well, I REFUSE to fill them out and I have tons of business. I tell them that as an independent Contractor I set my standards not someone else and I will not, under any circumstances, give in to that kind of "cr**"!!! Remember, this is YOUR business and you set the parimeters.

It is mostly the Federal Government, but some companies will give preferences to minority, woman, or veteran owned businesses.
First you have to be registered. Registering a business involves filing paperwork with the government to obtain certificates, licenses and permits in order to legally operate. Business registration encompasses everything from obtaining a tax ID and naming your business to applying for local business licenses.
The expense is not worth it to me.
