help
I dropped my IPhone in the water. Anyone know how to fix it. I am not eligible for an upgrade so the cost of a new phone is $500. I would appreciate it if anyone knows a way around that. I just got my income tax bill so a $500 IPhone is really stretching it. So much for your golden years.

That happens with some frequency. Go to the Internet; there should be possible fixes outlined. But don't be too hopeful.
You should be grateful you didn't drop it in a full toilet.

In the future, spend the $25 and buy a waterproof, shockproof cover.

If this hasn't been posted, put it in a bowl of dry rice (after removing the battery), and let it sit 24 hours. This works and Geek Squad at Best Buy will tell you so. Hope it helps.

I've heard that if you surround a wet cellphone in rice, that will draw the water out. I would expect a pound or two of rice would be less expensive that some other options to try.

Rice works great. Fill a ziplock bag with rice and put your phone in overnight. In the morning my phone was working great after it took a swim in the pool.

This is too late to hep you now, but when my daughter got her iPhone, Verizon was trying to sell her a warranty service for in case if she dropped the phone, etc. It was pretty expensive, like $200. I told her she should buy the Life Proof case she was looking at for $80 and that would be her insurance policy since you have to do something pretty destructive in order for that case to fail. Once you get the phone working/replaced, get a Life Proof case. I think my step-mom washed her iPhone in the washing machine once (it was in her pocket) and I think she took it apart and let it dry and it still worked.

out of work!
I guess I am out of work until I find a solution to this problem. Any way to let the signing services and title companies know without calling each one

Get your patootie
down to your service provider ... att, verizon, whoever, immediately, with the sim card and buy a $20 piece of junk phone and use that until you decide about your other phone.

I'd try putting it in a bag of rice
I've saved many phones this way. Leave it there 2-3 days. Forward your calls in the meantime to another phone or number.

How do I forward calls from one phone to another?

Call your provider, they'll set it up for you.
Just call your carrier, Verizon, Sprint, whoever, and have them forward it. Sometimes there's a fee, but it's likely worth it. Have them send calls to your house, your husband's phone or whatever.
If your phone has a sim card, you can even pull that out, stick it in another phone and it'll work just as if it was your phone. It's a little flat thing, about 1" by .66" and not quite rectangular (like a little rectangle with the corner missing) Alternately, if you have a REALLY new phone, you might have a micro-sim card, which is about 1/2 the size described, and you'll have a much harder time finding a "clunker" phone to substitute.
(This will not work with the iPhones from Verizon, which don't have a SIM card because Verizon is lame like that).

Rice worked the two times I washed my hubby's phone. I just added my iphone to my homeowners policy alone with my laptop & iPad. Cost next to nothing to insure and replacement on all devices if something happens is only $50.

Put it in a ziplock bag with rice. Just happened to my son a week ago and the rice did the trick.

If you can take the battery out, do that, and then put the phone in a bag of rice for several days. My i-Phone is through Verizon and I can't just open the phone case to get the battery out. If you have an old phone from the same service, call customer service and ask them to re-connect the old phone, while your current phone is drying out. If that all fails, look for a re-seller of used cell phones. I had a flip phone that broke in half and was able to replace it from a used cell phone store. My contract for the phone had expired by then, so I don't know if getting a used phone would void your contract.
