skye closings.......more on lowball fees

Was offered $90 for an edoc closing 30 miles away. When I quoted $120 w/o faxbacks scheduler told me they were not even getting $120 for the closing. Are these people lying or are they so stupid they are actually quoting such low fees to title just to get the business with the hope that notaries will work for peanuts???? Stick to your guns people, these bs lowball fees are not paying your bills. Wear and tear on your vehicle alone warrants higher fees. UGHH.....

You're absolutely right - and don't forget the price of gas which keeps creeping up every day!

The signing economy has become saturated. There are just too many notaries and too many signing services. The settlement companies are taking advantage and reducing their costs by offering less. This is not the only business where this has occurred. The number of posts by new notaries here shows the trend will continue. I suggest you examine the 1100 section of the HUD One and compare the total settlement fee against the amount of your check on each order. The pie is not getting smaller, the slices are.

They called me the other day for a closing about 40 miles away. I told him at least $150...he said "it's been nice talking to you" and hung up...didn't even offer the "let me get that approved" story....

They cancelled an appt 10 before the appt, and that's because I had been looking for docs for a few hours earlier.

I meant 10 minutes before the appt. time. I know if they don't have docs it's fine, they don't produce them but at least they could have called me. Borrower had to bring his daughter from miles away to be present at the signing, they were furious at the lender.

Skye Closings still pays my fee $125

I have never had faxbacks and they pay on time. There just may be alot of notaries in your area.

I did a few skye closings last year and they paid $100+ and in my backyard. I will not work for them anymore as they will not meet my fees and there are other reputable signing companies that pay well for professional signing agents.

Did you tell them ...

that you were so offended, and mad and for them to give you the TC's phone number so you could call them to give them a piece of your mind. How dare they lowball such a good SS. I can't believe how they are treating you guys. Followed quickly by "What's that number again?"

Who knows, since they seem to think all NSA's are stupid enough to actually believe that line, maybe they are just stupid enough to believe that you would call the TC on their behalf instead of calling the TC to market yourself directly to the TC. If they are paying the SS $175-$200, they might jump at the chance to pay you $150-$175. And gladly do it within 15 days instead of the 30 days most SS want us to wait for our money.
