Background checks required through NNA only.
So background checks from Lexisnexis is not acceptable anymore for most all lenders in CA effective Nov 1st. They are also requiring it to be through NNA. Geez NNA found a way to get our money and we can't do anything about it. Has anyone take the Recertification exam from NNA...what are your thoughts on it?

Harry posted a response--see msg. 488158. This is being
discussed daily. I'm getting emails every day from cos. about this new "mandate". I have a bgc through NR & don't think I'm going to be pressured or coerced into giving NNA my money. Hugh had written a post, suggesting that the notaries put together a petition. It just takes someone to get that rolling.

This is so unfair to us Notaries. Crazy! I feel like NNA is almost becoming like a cult.

I know huh....they are a cult. They are sickening and I am sick of them! I am not sure what to do. I have a feeling I am going to loose a lot of business come Nov 1st if I don't give in to these greedy money snatchers.

I decided NOT to comply with this new request BUT only 3 SS sent me an email about it. They are companies I do very little business with. SO Im not concerned with the lost of business. The big companies I have worked with and Title companies I have worked with have not said anything. So we shall see.

I agree....most of my work does not require it too and the ones that do require this new law I hardly do any business with them too. I think they are trying to scare us.

Careful there, Sherry. This is not a "new law", only the
fact that NNA sold this to FNF, who in turn is obviously selling it to the lenders. IMo, they're not seeing the big picture here, and considering that notaries aren't going to jump to comply to this "mandate". It all boils down to NNA trying to create a steady income stream in a declining market. Their timing is bad--because many notaries don't have the money to do this right now. Also, who's to say that their bgc is any better than the one I have from NR. I also have very few cos. that require a bgc at all. IMO what they're not counting on is things like this forum, where we discuss this & reveal some of the underlying motives in this whole proposition.

Oh, I totally-totally agree with you especially with NNA finding a way to streamline steady income in this market. I am sure they think they won the lottery with us Notaries. It just it appears as of NOW they are getting away with it. Because we all know their background check is NOT any better then ones we all have.

Bombarded this week with emails from signing services and title companies stating they will require all notaries "to have a Background Check from the National Notary Association. (MUST be by the National Notary Association ONLY) Fidelity National Title and its sister companies are requiring all notaries contracted through us to have a current NNA background check CERTIFICATE". I already have a background check from the National Verification Registry administered from Notary Rotary.
This seems absolutely RIDICULOUS! The NNA wants to make more money off of us even if we are unwilling to do so.

Very interesting post from the RIPOFF REPORT about NNA background check fees in 2007 but very applicable yet today:

Definitely thought provoking!

Does anyone have a BGC From NNA that can be compared to the one we get from NotRot? Would be interested to see what the "difference" is in the two.

Don't have access to my NotRot one as I'm away from my main puter - this msg is what the NNA one covers. As I said there - if the NotRot one is different I didn't see it.
