Feel good story about signing request

I received an assignment for a refi yesterday that was cancelled by the borrower, I guess he didn’t like my questioning him.

When I get an assignment I always Google the borrower’s address so I can see where I’m going. My family also knows they can go to my computer to see places I’ve been looking at that day. Anyway, it was a gated community so I knew parking would be difficult ( no parking on the “property side” of the street). I also know they usually have guest parking inside.

So I called the borrower to confirm and ask about the guest parking. He told me THAT was for guest and to park outside, go register at the Guard and walk to his house (about ¾ of a mile from gate). Then he said, “you got a problem or something?”. I told him, “not anymore!”

Hiring party called me about 15 mins later and told me they had another notary…..I FEEL good. Go Dodgers!

I must still be to sleepy to get it...vacation tends to do

that to me..

I don't get what's so "feel good" about alienating a borrower AND a hiring party.

I wonder if their pizza delivery, plumbers, etc have to walk

3/4 of a mile. If I didn't have my briecase & had on sweats & sneaks, 3/4 of a mile is a breeze!

It seems to me the BO was a PITA & they were glad to dodge that bullet!

Re: I wonder if their pizza delivery, plumbers, etc have to walk

I think that is just rude of the borrowers. What if it was pouring down rain or snow or ice? WE are doing them a favor by coming to their home, at their convenience. Yes, we're being paid to do so and this is our chosen profession but the least they could do is try and provide a place to park reasonably close. Yes, we are "guest's". No, we're not best friends, but gosh, we're only their an hour or less.

If you weren't joking here's why

1. A signing agent is a guest!
2. I have a right to a level of comfort also...just like so notaries refuse to go to crime laden neighborhoods for signings.
3. It's a job, everyone get's treated the same (I also don't park in people's driveways).
4. Talking down to me WILL not accomplish anything. I am somebody.
5. I feel good because there is a BART strike that took place last night and it takes TWO HOURS to go anywhere today which means I would have spent four hours on the freeway.
6. I live in the city, walking 1 1/2 mile R/T should be done for exercise, NOT work!

Wow! South FL is all gated community's and I would never park outside and walk in. I would tell him, yes, I do have a problem, as I have am a professional doing your closing and service to you. I usually park in the driveway 99% of the time anyway, or in front of their mailbox. The odd and even parking usually pertains to PM parking overnight down here, and in 8 years have never had an issue. I think you must have been relieved to be called off of this one, a blessing in disguise. lol
