Got a $XXX signing from a 4 start that

I've never signed for before. Could it be that the number of NSAs has decreased to the point that they are now calling new full fee notary's? I think the ranks will thin out, but expected it to take much longer. Or, is it just a fluke and the rest is hopeful thinking by me?

There are quite a few that pay well - this is not a fluke.

They are not in the majority, though they are the majority of my work. You have to hold out and have patience and never stop marketing.

My little pet peeve - it's notaries not notary's. (Never use an exclamation point to make a word plural.) That is one of the few things I really remember from high school English class. That, and my wife is a retired English teacher. Other than that, good post. Good luck and hope you get more calls like that one.

My other pet peeve is people (like me, for example) that don't proofread their comment before clinking on Post. While it is true that you should never use an exclamation point to make something plural, what I really meant to say was not to use ' to make something plural. However the word for ' is harder to spell and I usually get it wrong. Apostrophe, I think. The spell checker here didn't burp at me, so I guess that is right.

Robert, this spelling error is really common in some

states where the English teachers didn't get a good handle on that plural-thingy themselves. Been in Alabama for over 30 yrs, but I always grind my teeth at the "hour's" posted on signs of all shapes & sizes. Notary entrepreneurs heads-up for your grammar & punctuation in everything you write. It does take more time & focus, but in your business communications--you are representing yourself, the professional....or not.

Re: Robert, this spelling error is really common in some

You are so right! I hesitate to do business with someone that makes grammatical errors on signs, literature, etc. We deal with details in our business and perhaps our expectations are a little higher than others, but I still expect at least an effort to check grammar and spelling. Of course, for every one person who can't read, there are at least a half dozen that won't. (I admit to being guilty of this at times!)
