Curious on how you heard about this profession and why you decided to do it.

And, where did you get your training? And, who certified you?

I don't mean to attach the OP, but when they are referring

to "certified" I'm guessing it's XYZ at work again. It's a shame that they continue to market training, etc., without giving some realistic expectations. IMO they're the source of the problem, not the solution.

100% Agree! They are only interested in separating people from their money, not actually helping people or notaries.

Re: Well James, what is YOUR answer?

Lie, cheat, kiss azz, work for very little and believe everything you read that starts with "I was paid $XXX" and "they met my fee".

Honestly my expertise would be telling people what NOT to do if you want clients.

Jalihin:

You've been a notary in San Diego since 2/27/13 - public information. What prompted you to become a "loan signing specialist" 7 months later? Do you have mortgage/lender/real estate background?

We're curious what moves someone to spend additional funds to enter a field that's somewhat dormant nationwide at the moment, and has been very slow for the past couple of months.

I'm gonna give it to you straight....

Jalihin, this business is deader than a doornail right now. More people are leaving it everyday because they can no longer make a living doing it. Best thing to do would be to market to the 4 and 5 star companies listed on this website. I hope you didn't quit your day job.

I'm still waiting for the answers to the questions...

Do not understand why someone would jump into this business now - why not roll the dice and open a drive-in? I bet those get more business than loan signing these days.

In today’s business climate, with hordes of new NSA’s and SS’s popping up everywhere, and Title Company’s struggling to stay afloat, the answer is NOT to be a professional, be well versed and experienced, be presentable and dress business. The answer is to be cheap! The title company that is about to fail, doesn’t care about quality of service, or a well-dressed knowledgeable ‘representative’ to meet with their clients, they want someone cheap! So what if three out of ten are screwed up…make the notary fix it (for free) or redo it (charge the disgruntled borrowers that will NEVER use us again twice!) What counts is BOTTON LINE!!!! Action word….Cheap!

This business is becoming pitiful and nothing more than a playground for the TC and SS who don't want professionalism, or, for that matter, people who can read and write and think for themselves. As long as you charge nothing, am willing to go back nine times to correct your or their errors, you're hired.
The more I see and the more I read from the newcomers, the more I realize that a good portion of the TC and SS want nothing more than morons who will kiss their ass and not even charge enough to make a profit. Furthermore, a good many of the new people in this business have no idea of what a business plan is or how to run a business. Thanks to the NNA and some other organizations who advertise that all you need is a notary stamp and you're on the way to $100,00 income.
