NNA Background ck
I just received an email from my biggest client that it is now required by their largest lender that I have a background check ONLY from NNA. Went to the site, but do not quite understand what to do. Do I have to join to get the check? How do I get in without joining? Was hoping this would not happen, but, alas, it has. So if someone out there has gone through the steps, could you let me know how to do it without purchasing a membership. Thank you.

As far as I know you must be a member and even take their CNSA (Certified Notary Signing Agent) course, in order to get a background check.
I didn't like doing all this but if I want to stay in business I had no choice.

"but if I want to stay in business I had no choice."
I used to think like that. Proved myself wrong too.

Re: NNA Background ck I am a member asked for copy
of certification four days ago was told the online service was unavailable and I would have to email their XYZTraining center which I did AND I still haven't heard from them.
You don't have to be a member to get NO results. Spare yourself the headache.
I also contacted the party that administers the test for the state and they emailed me this answer.
" Hello James, CPS HR Consulting only handles the exam portion of the notary process. If you would like to check on the status of your commission or any other part of the process, you will need to contact the California Secretary of State. You can check to see what dates they are currently processing by going to www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/processing-times.htm. You may contact them at 916-653-3595, option 3, then 1, then 0. You may also email them at [e-mail address]. "
Okay, now if you go to the SOS Website, there is no place to download the results or printout your BGC because they don't accommodate that. The state only "acknowledges" that you passed or failed.
The only other bull in the room that day was XYZ and they just "collected" the money for the BGC.
wHERE DO YOU GO FROM THERE????

You need to write the lender and ask WHY. Some don't resize there are equally good and better choices out there

How many more BGC threads are going to be started this
week. This has been discussed and discussed a hundred fold. Unless there is something new to report, please do a search.
Sorry, don't mean to be snide but this NNA thing has got me furious. I hate it and refuse to play their game. I will not give one dime to that organization.

It needs to be discussed until all notaries are aware of this. The policy won't be changed or modified unless there is a ground swell of notaries with a backbone!

See msg. 488158 from Harry about this. Also, try using the
search button to check on discussions before posting. Not your fault, but this topic is coming up several times every day. We all got those emails. I have a bgc from here on NR, and I'm sticking with that one. I won't be pressured or coerced by ANYONE into giving NNA any more money.

I have been reading all the threads about NNA and BGC, but in this instance just wanted to know the process of getting it after going to their site and not really finding anything. Thought maybe someone who had done it could point me in the direction of the process. Got that info and now I can make a decision about whether or not to do it.

Why won't they do a stand alone BGC? If so many companies are requiring it, why do you have to pay for the test also?

I was told by my "big" client who I have a strong feeling is the same company/client many are referring too that my crimcheck background check was not "national" only local within my state/CA. If I can get my original background check company to expand to do a national check I don't have to go through the NNA which I also refuse to use!

I said it before and I will say it again. Let the experience professional notaries stay home, make popcorn, and watch the movie of their choice. When the newbies and other notaries who fall for this crap don't do the job right, who are the SS, TC, or Lender going to call?
