Notary Public & the prosecution of Domestic Abuse Cases

Intresting read. You'll need to go about half-way through the article to find mention of a notary being called in by the victim and minister. I hope the link works.

This is such a horrible case. A former police officer. 2 wives dead, 1 still missing. He almost got a way with murder. I'm so glad they exumed the body and found the truth. I hope he rots in hell. I've read many articles on this case.

From the article:

“Domestic abuse is not just a woman’s issue ... ” Schori said.

Just to bring some balance to an issue that really should not be in this forum and that overwhelmingly is portrayed in the mass media -- and in this article in particular -- as something men do to women, please note the following bibliography from a well-known gender researcher, that examines 286 scholarly investigations: 221 empirical studies and 65 reviews and/or analyses, which demonstrate that women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners. The aggregate sample size in the reviewed studies exceeds 371,600.

Just because people keep pointing fingers at the butler doesn't mean that the butler necessarily did it; it could just mean that people don't <want> to believe the maid did.

I was on a jury several years ago... a domestic violence case and I know for a fact that one of the reasons I was selected was because I'm a Notary. It was a hung jury, but because of my experience as a CA notary, I knew some of the credibility issues that hung the jury could be solved by getting a copy of that notary's journal. I actually posted it about it not too long ago: Msg #481478

As a survivor, I can tell you that the problem of Domestic

Violence doesn't carry the weight it should is because it is considered a "women's issue".
There was very little help available to me. The question of "why does she stay" isn't as black & white as some would make it out to be.

Re: As a survivor, I can tell you that the problem of Domestic

I have three lady friends in my area who were married for years to abusive men, verbally and physically, and they got out with their lives. This article was a good reminder that if you know someone who is being abused for their spouses, pray they find a way out with their sanity and physical well being.

A terrible way to live.
