Questions/advice about faxing
Hi all, My set up now is an HP ALL IN ONE with faxing from my Land line. My landline and internet service are both ATT. I would like to eliminate the Landline number. Doing that eliminates my faxing doesn't it? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could still fax with my ALL IN ONE but NOT have to have a landline? I hope I am explaining this correctly. My billing with internet and LOCAL CALLS ONLY with taxes etc is $85 a month. $45 is internet. TIF

Re: You may want to consider using your Notary Rotary fax #
Hi Christine, that is the first place I went to look to find out information. I am not a Premier member but wanted to read information about the service before I make a decision. This area where I live has been hard hit for work on a regular basis. 12 Years and the slow down is unreal. I need the fax available although I may not use it but maybe 10 or 15 times a year. Main reason is trying to cut the other costs.

I think you need a 'fax modem' to fax from your computer. At least, that's what my computer tells me I need and don't have. As your all in one will scan....just scan & attach to e-mail. The upside of this method is that you have a copy of what was 'faxed' for those too frequent times when 'they didn't get it'/all'. Note that you need to set up your scanner for a low res scan. I also convert it to a pdf for size reasons. Takes a bit of practice, but imo has a lot of good reasons for doing it this way.

Just hit me--duh--no land line...don't know how that will work even with a fax modem. Need someone waaay more techy than I. Somebody had very good luck with using MagicJack...and it didn't work out well for a lot more somebodies.

Tannis, I have Vonage.
Right now they have a special, if I refer you. Adding a fax line is 9.99/mo and includes 250 outgoing minutes and unlimited incoming. You'll still have a land line, but at less than half the cost.
Anyone interested, they've given me this link to share:
http://refer.vonage.com/a/clk/1Q7pYk
Their solicitation email to me:
<<<It's our mission to spread generosity. So we're encouraging you to tell a friend about Vonage's great low rates by giving you two months of free service if they sign up. Think that's crazy? Well your friend will receive a free month of service, too. Now that's crazy generous.
We're welcoming your friends to Vonage WorldŽ with our special introductory deal of $9.99/month for the first 3 months and then they'll pay $26.99/month after. And don't forget to remind them they'll get unlimited2 calling to 60 countries including the U.S.>>>

Re: Tannis, I have Vonage.
$9.99/month for 3 months = $ 30.00 $26.99/month for 9 months = $243.00
Total ... $273.00 for 12 months - to Vonage
For $80 she can get a one-year premium listing here AND have a fax number (not sure if any limits on incoming and outgoing). Only thing is she'll need the scan function working.
No offense to Vonage or to you, Misty, but Vonage sounds pretty pricey to me

Yep, NR fax is much cheaper
As long as you have a working scanner.
With Vonage, you do get the 4th month for free, but you have to add 110.00 to that figure for a fax line. But still half of what ATT is charging. And HALF of what Verizon was charging me for just one line. I guess it depends on what you need, and what you have available. (I was lucky, I got an ultd biz line which included a free fax line.)

Can't fax out with NR FAX
I would much rather fax than scan - scanning is so many steps.

Re: Yes you can fax out
Don't you have to scan to fax out?

Yes, but it still goes out as a fax if that's what the
recipient requires - which I experienced.

I have E-Fax for 7.95/month. Scan into your computer and then you can either Fax through E-Fax or Attach to email, whichever you prefer.
Just go to e-fax.com and check it out. Incoming emails will come into your email that you designate and you can print from their. Outgoing faxes will be confirmed by a message sent to your email address. Do not need a land line or fax modem.
Have had it for many years and am happy with it unless having to send a Large number of pages. There is a way to send "A File" if you have a larger package. I have not done this yet because I will email if I think it is to large for the fax.
