Msg #488786 - Caused confusion and was Mis-Read.....got to learn to read folks before jumping to conclusions.
The fee was not for a loan signing - please re-read that. It was for "other"notary service, ie, GNW.
Being a Notary Savior is not all it's cracked up to be. Caution, folks.

Other than medical records affidavits ...
... I have never had a GNW assignment come through a signing service, and the records affidavits are handled by records retrieval firms, not signing services per se. I think the poster was talking about real estate transactions -- sales/purchases, time shares, etc. that require less paperwork than other such RE transactions but still have substantial liability for the signing agent.
He was, as other posters noted, just trying to lever everybody's fees downward so that he could keep a larger slice of the pie. I have a short ocean pier I would recommend he take a long walk on.

Why do they forget to add in what goes on After signing?
<<"I have never had a GNW assignment come through a signing service">>
While I haven't either, last week call came in through SS (one not talked of favorably here) wanting me to fulfill an prop Inspection - "only 6 photos." Of course, being born on Tues (but not last tues), I asked type of property, size of completion report, etc.
They were fast-talkers, and when it got down to price and I heard caller say, 'we charge client $35' (I had to clean my ears).
No thanks. Add a flying kite to that ocean pier . . .

Same here. Last week, had email from E-notaries.net for a verification report (translated to inspection report). Required 7 photos plus completion report plus a 50-minute drive -- all for $10!!
Responded to them asking if that $10 was a typo; if they actually meant $110 or $210 or $310. Funny. They never did respond ............

Re: Why do they forget to add in what goes on After signing?
Today I hit ALL 3 of my criteria (see my 'Show Me the Money' post above) and saw all the limes, cherries, lemons line up: one, two, three . . . cha-ching!
1. Got paid a fair fee of $45 -minimal travel <without> any printing, couriering of documents, shipping, faxbacks, late docs, etc. 2. Got cash On the Spot 3. Direct client -a homeowner buying prop in WA who had his R.E. contract all in order
Oh, did I mention, 2 notarizations. That's what I call Motivation!!
(that was funny, Yoli - I'm still chuckling at the "typo." UNREAL. What are people smokin'?)

guess I should have said, "my dream criteria"
Only in my dream, I wouldn't have been outside of the garage signing papers on an ironing board (signer was renting out his VA house)

Re: guess I should have said, "my dream criteria"
I totally related to that one...
Reminded me of a signing I had a just a few weeks ago where the borrower wanted us to sign on an ironing board in his garage. This was a reschedule, and the borrower thought he was just going to sign a Note, that his accountant would take care of the rest. Surprise!! It was a refi of approx 150 pages. We found a couple of empty boxes we set up on top of a laundry basket to use as a table (no chairs) and sped through it.
This was because someone pulled the signing time out of the air (nicer than what I was really thinking...) and set it up for 7:00 pm on a Friday evening - at the same time the borrower had a dinner party going on. Just wanting to get it done, he had agreed and didn't say anything to me about the time conflict when I reconfirmed with him.
Did I mention this was for a $5,000,000 loan, at a house on a cliff right over the ocean, with an unobstructed view of Laguna Beach? And I never got past the garage... At least I was well paid for that one.

And no cocktail. In a good "dream" could have at least been given permission to take in a glimpse of the panoramic view; but then you'd wake up - just like right before you get to kiss the handsome prince

Oh my . . . was wondering what "MIS-Read"? Then read down. Yikes! This is how wars are started (and no one remembers what led up to the fighting)
Remember once hearing a speaker say, "It's one thing to report, 'Johnny Red took a bad fall the other day'- and quite another to say, 'Johnny Red takes a sip every now and again and even took a bad fall the other day'
Think it's good you pointing out the misunderstanding (still trying to figure out how that post was misconstrued, i.e, "small jobs" in Title, "options <besides> real estate closings," refi vs. smaller assignment comparison)

Loan modifications; tax relief paperwork; annuities; among others.
I'm not saying the fee spoken of is good - there has to be a bare minimum each has assigned their business - you know: to start the car to leave the driveway. There has to be a motivating factor to complete the negotiation.
