First make the Signing Services get a background check. This will help to eliminate some of the crooks and flakes that crap on this business. Signing Agents are not the problem. TC's and SS's ARE THE PROBLEM

I agree %100 Jim.
But how do you do that in this industry ?
I say regulate the industry of the NSA ans the SS both.
Just my 2cents.

Notaries are regulated--we are commissioned & have to
comply with the laws of our state. We are not an actual part of the mortgage industry, and don't require the licensing that goes with that distinction.

I love, love, love: "What a freaking joke for the National Notary Association to even get involved..." Funny And True!
As a Commissioned Officer of the State of California, if I (or any of my fellow Notaries Public) were to do something intentionally wrong (criminal or ethical) my Commission can be revoked; a heavy fine can be invoked, and, if the act is horrid enough, I can be sentenced to jail time.
What's the NNA going to do? Banish me from membership?

I feel a fee increase coming on.....
I will not stand by and eat the costs of onerous, ridiculous new standards. What is next? Graduate degrees? Police escorts?? I have been a NSA for 5 years. You can bet your booty my fees will go up. I hope all of yours does as well.
