This forum
I have read a lot of posts and we as independent notaries do have to share information and look out for one another. If anyone has someone thing positive to share I would love to read it. If you're some jerk that makes up lies and tries to smear their competition, then shame on you. It's easy to hide behind a fake name and publicly attack someone, like twitter, facebook, and other social media. It's just so childish and reminds of the movie mean girls. If you're going to make comments, be an adult and own it.
I would really like to address the fact that escrow officers still use signing services that they know are slow to pay or at all. How do you think that is? I heard an escrow officer say "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs", could it be that simple?

SDSigner...I don't know who you are but I agree 100% with your take on this forum. I have been in the Mortgage industry since I was 21. At the risk of dating myself that is 34 years. I have been a Notary Public for most of that as well. I probably have more experience with mortgage documents and the industry then a majority of the people on this forum. However, I just became a member of Notary Rotary in the last few months and it seems that every time I post something, there is someone that will make some snide remark or insult etc....I find this with other (NEWBIES) that have posted as well...I quit posting until now and just read the other posts so that maybe, Just maybe I might learn something new about the industry. Before I posted this I looked at the Rules and Regulations of posting on this forum. See Netiquette Item #4.... As well as the BGC subject, "Harry" should also look into the way his forum is used by Old Members to New Members. Just because we are new to this forum does not necessarily mean that we are new to the business. If I treated my new clients and my fellow professionals on a local basis the way some of these people treat others on this forum, my business would have been in the dumpster years ago. I assume that someone will post something negative about this post or say that I am just trying to advertise my business etc.......But in fact this is....JMHO

Excellent post, I couldn't agree more. I will not allow some bully to intimidate on this forum. People should really check their negative attitudes, I can promise you that I will smile as I walk past you with multiple sets of loan documents from escrow. I see the same old tired notaries that tried this method to scare "newbies" out of the business. Just incredibility lame. The best and most successful notaries that I know are always pleasant, nice, and helpful. Thanks for having the courage to post this because I feel the same way.

I don't get it.......
Why do noobies boobies and doobies b%tch about this forum ?? There are Notaries here who have more years in the business than you have been walking God's earth. Why don't you just avoid this forum if you don't like it....no one will miss you. If you can't grow a tough skin (let alone a grown up pair) you don't belong in this business OR this forum. You complain about bullying on this forum but what's worse are the NOOOOObies that come here with an attitude. You are not owed anything from anybody here....not even courtesy...when you show up with an expectation of respect that you've not earned. PLEASE....take it somewhere else......or better yet....start your own forum and make all your own rules. SHEESH !!

"I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
What does printing docs have to do with using a SS?
Escrow officers come in all shapes, sizes, temperaments, and motivation levels. It's certainly easier for one to make a one-stop call to get a loan signed, but I don't see what printing has to do with it. "My" escrow officers just email docs directly to me, I print. See, I have been burned by a few SS. I don't work with but just a few, and we have a long, long history of working together. I would rather do less work and: Get paid a better fee. Get paid at funding. NOT chase payment. Have firsthand communication. Know what I am walking into.
My post is linked. You can see my name and location. I have nothing to hide. And I have little positive to share about my experiences with SS, who claim way more than the standard 15-30% of the fee that an agency should be entitled to.
Secondly, you've misspoke if you think that notaries sharing information here regarding some bad and non-paying SS is making up lies to smear their competition.
Thirdly, shame on you, for coming here and having some kind of a childish fit, pointing fingers at upstanding, longstanding members of this private, professional community.
If you want people here to listen to what you have to say, you may consider finding a better way to communicate.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
There's nothing upstanding about internet bullying, especially when its in the form of a lynch mob and the information is incorrect. I'm part of the "same people" for sticking up for someone? Enough of that, I agree, I would much rather the call come from an escrow officer, but why do they use SS if they know they will get notaries that aren't that experienced? I only work with one SS, but like you stated, I try to stay free for my officer officers that call me directly for all the same reasons. I just can't figure out why escrow would allow a SS company to not pay their notaries. It seems like just another potential problem for an escrow officer.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
" but why do they use SS if they know they will get notaries that aren't that experienced?"
They probably don't know the notaries are not that experienced, they don't check. The SS will get the docs signed at the least possible cost. And notaries that don't get paid often don't let the Title companies know that the SS isn't paying them. If they did the Title companies will probably drop those SS. Was because of notaries letting one particular Title company know they were not getting paid that the Title Company dropped that SS and asked me if I would be able to find notaries for them, that is how I started out as a SS and that TC used me all the years I had the SS. When I had the SS I checked on how long a notary had been commissioned, I read their profile on here or The Signing Registry (the two places I looked for notaries - I stayed away from the NNA), and sometimes I had a "gut feeling" about a notary who had not been commissioned long and would call them for a signing, anyone doing their first signing for me had to fax me the notarized pages only so I could make sure they were notarized correctly for Florida law (I was a Florida only SS).

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
Wow, good for you. I wish you owned a SS in San Diego. You seem like an intelligent person that cared enough about their business to do your research. I have never been stiffed, yet, but I have a feeling that day might come soon, if it does I'm taking your advice. Thanks for taking the time to respond with good knowledge.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
I was a notary/signing agent for several years before starting the SS. I knew to make sure I had enough capital to pay the notaries who I hired for signings whether I got paid or not. I paid well and fast (the day after the signing was completed the check went out to the notary). I treated the notaries I hired the same way I wanted to be treated. The slow down in the market and my health is why I closed shop.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
I don't know your background personally. But here is my approach to what you posted (as a CPA and a notary). Ignore the comments of people who don't know you. Ignore the people who have not done their homework and are speaking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time (and you can't tell which side is lying).
Rely on people who know (or learn to respect from their posts) what he or she is doing and has the experience to guide you properly. Choose to network with that small respective group and seek private answers to specific questions. Because of my CPA background I get more income tax questions than notary questions. I always say when I don't know the answer and to seek a better source (I give a source if I know it).
Hence, it is possible to learn from this forum if you just filter the garbage postings and learn from the good ones.

This was intended to be a private message, not posted to the forum. Sorry if it landed here. But since it did. I still believe everything I've written as this has been my life experience and not just with this forum.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
I love reading most of the posts on here..I use my real name on here as well as on FB..I don't have time for the other social sites..With that said..I use my real name on here because when I pst something I have nothing to hide..Nor would I post false information or bash anyone publicily..I am honest and I will tell it like it is..
I do agree that there are some people on here that love to pounce on others for the slightest things and that has been a long standing problem here and most likely any other places..But I have earned so much from the notaries and SAs on this site that it is well worth the time that I use to sort through the negative stuff..
You will learn to just skip reading the topics or the posts that you dont like and gleen valuable information from the others..Do not be afraid to post or ask questions..Not everyone is mean, negative or critical.

Re: "I use this SS because I don't like to print docs",
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was getting depressed. I just want the same knowledge but without all the negative and weird information. I really appreciate the positive feedback. I currently work for Bank of Manhattan, and I'm a full time notary. My wife is a stay at home Mom which means extremely long days. The last thing that I want to do is waste my time or get burned from a signing service.

You may get more informed answers if you actually link your profile to your screen name (SDSigner) rather than remain anonymous.
