WI Department of Financial Institutions

has increased our allowable per notarization fee to $5 from .50 as of September 1st, 2013. I may be a bit late in posting this, but I did not find anything about it on a search first.

It is baby steps...but it is certainly better than the allowable .50 since...well....we thought the world was flat instead of round:-)

Finally

I started in the title business in 1968 and it was .50 at that time. I never understood why it never changed, since recording fees consistently went up over time. Good news. I may be doing some GN work now.

That is what I thought too about increasing and advertising for more general notary work. I never really had time for it before...but if things keep getting slower....it may be a good move to get the word out there. Just another iron in the fire.
