BofA branch signings

Arrived at a BofA for a branch signing. As normal, I explained I was there to do one of their customer's loan signing. I was told by a BofA employee that I couldn't perform the signing because I wasn't a BofA employee. I have loan docs in my briefcase. I said OK, explain that to your customer when he arrives. Borrower arrives and BofA employee explains new BofA policy. Borrower says OK, I'll just go over to the counter and close my accounts. BofA employee says "Ok, you can do the signing, but just this once" Completed the signing.

My question. If BofA is laying off people how did they miss this NITWIT?

I love your story. In 1986 my brother and I inherited some money from our grandmother who passed the previous Thanksgiving. We were in escrow to buy 20 acres for $100K. The funds were wire transferred from grandmother's account in Minnesota to my BofA account in Ojai.

We're trying to close on January 13. BofA says they can't release funds for 10 days. I hit the ceiling and bounded all over the walls for several minutes. I could not be calmed. I told the manager we would lose the transaction if we could not wire this money to escrow in time.

Finally, when I said we need to find another bank to handle our finances, she finally agreed to release the funds.

Sometimes you've got to get out of control to get people's attention. It was, after all, our money. We were only transferring assets for a RE purchase, not going out to buy frivolous toys.

I can't wait until I don't care what my FICO score is any more!

and BofA is the lender that just gave me $6k in free money for screwing up my loan mod. After 2.5 years they finally admitted to their error...

Re: BofA refused to refi my home

on the grounds that the loan had be originated by Countrywide - who they bought. So I was SOL. I went somewhere else and got it done in 45 days.

Re: BofA refused to refi my home

BofA is horrible. They expect me to call them when I go out of town if I plan on using my debit card. If I don't, the shut down the card and I can't use it. Imagine that. Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with all the fraud they committed. I can't wait until I can find a nationwide bank in my area and get the hell away from BofA.

Re: BofA refused to refi my home

Even better: I sold and financed a home in VA to a gentleman .. 1 year with a ballon. At the time the loan was due he tried to get a home loan with BoA and was turned down. The fun part: he was a V-P AT BoA.

Credit/debit card thing

Every bank requires you to do that now. It's a safeguard for you. I don't mind that at all.

Re: BofA refused to refi my home

Reminds me of why I dumped BofA several years ago. My wife went to the east coast to visit grandchildren. While she was gone I tried to buy a new phone using our BofA Visa ( we paid it off every month) and was declined. I used my AMEX card and when I got home I called BofA to find out why. BofA told me there were suspicious charges on the east coast. My wife bought grandchildren clothes at Kohls for back to school in Charlotte. I explained this to BofA and asked that the Visa card be reactivated. They said no, once it's deactivated we will have to wait for new cards. When I received the new cards I cut them into the smallest pieces I could and sent them back.

By the way Shoshanna, I don't advertise for security reasons when I am traveling.

Re: BofA branch signings - always arrange ahead of time

I always have the borrower call the B of A branch where the closing is going to be held to let them know and make arrange4ments for a place for us to sit at a desk. When I arrive at the branch, I hand my business card to the person who greets us, and thank them for arranging for us to close there. I NEVER show up unannounced.

OK, a real history of BOA early in CA...

picture the agriculture community of Kern Co (Delano) w/farmers owning 1000's acres at a whack. A major agri producer in our country today. During WW II, Japanese Americans, to include children of Japanese immigrants, are sent to interment camps. BOA was trying to foreclose & buy up all farms of these victims and the farmers (that my husband knew) in the Delano area organized to make sure these farms got worked & ran them for their neighbors so that the Bank could not repo them. Thus thwarting the greedy and evil plans of BOA. (Don't take my word, it is published in more than one book.) In the region today, many will not patronize this bank, remembering the greed & attitudes held by it's early owners.
