Every dark cloud has a silver lining...

Two candidates for insurance licensing in the state of CA came to my office today for live scan fingerprinting required by the Department of Insurance. These two men worked at the Wells Fargo branch where I performed countless in branch refinance and purchase loan escrows. They are no longer employed there, this is their next gig.

Re: OMG !

Let's see, well, Harry Shoemaker saw enough potential in the insurance biz to jump in. With Obamacare coming up, I'll bet there are more opportunities than most of us realize. These guys who came in today, both private bankers with Masters in Business Administration, have done their homework and they have jobs already. So I wouldn't be too critical about the opportunities.

After all, insurance is always there, and legally required if you own a home, drive a car, etc.

Re: No critics!!

My father went into the insurance biz and made a fortune, so no criticizing the insurance industry! Seniors need medicare supplements and we need health insurance for Obamacare or be penalized by the IRS. The next big money making industry???

Re: OMG !

I got a Life & Health Insurance license back in 2008 but only used it for one year. That sure isn't my bag! I maintain it because it's easier to keep it than re-acquire it but I doubt if I ever sell insurance.

Re: OMG !

I have my insurance license and work with Medicare eligible folks and individual families/small businesses. There is a ton of compliance (annual for Medicare) and I've been going to every insurance company's roadshow to discuss the ACA and their new products. I live in WA. We are pretty far ahead of some of the states with our Exchange, but the prices are outlandish.

I'm happy to have this additional stream of income.
