Faxing line
I'm considering giving up my fax Line$$. Since business has dropped off I don't need the extra expense. I can scan and email much faster and encrypt when necessary. Does anyone have a comment. If the tc's don't have a problem with it I will continue. What do you all think.

I will fax 1 page. After that, it does 'cost', (screwy phone co.) so I scan/e-mail. Many will provide a specific e-mail address for this. Others--case by case, but they all do accept scan/e-mail. It's faster, cheaper for us AND the biggie for me is I still have it in my computer for those times when they 'didn't get it'.

I scan and e-mail too - have had one instance where
the recipient insisted on a fax - so I have a NotRot fax line - scan to pdf, fax through NotRot with attachment.
Works for me.

Re: I scan and e-mail too -
I have am efax # but NotRot's looks like a great service and I just signed up.
I need my other fax number to add to my website and signature line which NotRot doesn't allow it appears?
I shopped quite a bit long ago and opted for Nextiva.
I pay an annual fee that comes to $4.95 per month. It makes life easy and you have an electronic record. You get a separate personalized fax number just like here. Difference is you pay. You get billed once per year. You can add multiple recipients, cover page, everything you normally do with a phone line. You can keep the fax file in your customer folder as part of your documentation. When they manually fax back, it will be an efax back to you. http://nextivafax.com/

I haven't used a fax in years. I do have a fax number through NR which I only use for SL's faxback requirement of the encryption.

I find my fax machine is needed for more than notary work - tax work. Sometimes in tax work scan and fax is not acceptable (to the IRS or state taxing agencies). Also, I use it to send personal faxes rather than drive somewhere and fax at a fee.

Been using NR wonderful fax line for SLink, & personal stuff
In the SLink instance, it is for docs to be reviewed & approved prior to shipping. Having spent my working life in offices, I know if it arrives already printed out, they just pick it off the machine==quicker ok back to me

I can scan and email, but I find faxing to be faster. My scan system requires about 5 steps. :-( I am paying over $50 a month for a barebones AT&T landline.

I have an Epson GT S50...has a larger ADF
and scans a bit quicker. I love it.
