Notary Acceptor
Two years ago, I posted a message about how many notaries are doing this kind of work. It is ridiculous...they are everywhere.
What kind of document scam are they getting themselves into?

Oh yeah, context:
I have been asked again to act as an notary acceptor...that's what stirred up my hornets nest.

Re: See message #305864
Thanks.
I can think of very few situations in which I would be willing to deal with this type of work. The time involved could become rather tedious if you are working for a problematic person. To date, Acceptor Seekers are problematic, in my experience.

There's just no way to deal with seekers of Notary Acceptors
I declined.
He said, "So you are saying that there is no such thing."
I explained that it was not an official notary capacity called "notary acceptor"...wasn't in our laws or handbooks.
It ticked him off.
He said, "WE'RE DONE!! I need a knowledgeable notary!!"

Per Pamela of CA's post 156029: "... but it gives them an
opportunity of having an impartial third party, an officer of the court, to 'tell their side of the story to' if they are sincere in wanting to settle the matter..."
Notaries Public are officers of the state - not officers of the court. Big difference. Lawyers are officers of the court by virtue of being authorized to appear. Lay people, like CASAs, are officers of the court by virtue of being Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Notaries, as witnesses in court, are not officers of the court, regardless of our mandated impartiality. Making up a fancy-sounding 'capacity' to sway a potential "client" into settling? Bleah.
I'm with you, Bren - I wouldn't pet that dog either.
