Re: Signing Central
Re: The Notary Company - this company does not deserve 2 1/2 stars. The only complaints about them that I have seen are from who obviously forgot that The Notary Company discloses upfront that you get paid for doing the application after the loan is siged, sealed and delivered. Anyone who does RM on a regular basis is aware that a RM usually takes 90 days or longer to sign. If you want to post about payment being slow, please do NOT put bad stars for these companies who really are great to work for.
As far the low ball companies - again post your gripe about being low balls but I think it is unfair to post 1 2 or 3 stars for them. Some notaries would think that 85 is okay for signing and those who think anything less than 125 or 150 is lowball. Different parts of the company and different situations.
LSI, JMT and other companies that may be paying lower than they used to. Of course we do not like it but they are generally still quite professional etc etc.
Point please be careful with the lack of stars you put on a post in signing central. Thank you

There are two listings for The Notary Company
One rated 2.5 stars - and that's based on several comments of no payments after 60 or more days - nothing mentioned about them being RM apps.
The other is rated 4 stars ..
Don't care who they are - my fee for apps is due within 30 days and is not contingent upon the loan closing since it may never happen, especially now ith the new RM guidelines. And any company that takes over 30-40 days to pay ANY fee IMO deserves the 1 or 2 star ratings they get.

Re: There are two listings for The Notary Company
I understand but my point was that "you are informed of this upfront" This company pays for the app even if the loan does not happen. If you are informed and then take the assignment -- and they live up their end of the agreement then it does not seem fair. That is my point. I have worked for them for about 2 years and they live up their end of the agreement 100%of the time. BTW - I have not been asked to defend them - just looking at the posts of companies I work for and felt that The Notary Company was getting unfair ratings. Just asking the posting notaries to perhaps think about how important the stars ratings are.

Agree with Linda, they get 2 stars if pay after 30+ days of constant calling, emailing for a paycheck. Every other business pays within a certain time, and if they cannot pay in a timely matter, they get a low star rating. Do not care how nice and pleasant, and loan applications the same way. 30 days, not contingent on "if" I do their closing or "if" it doesn't happen. I did the work, I want to get paid.

2 stars for 30+ days to pay?
I would only give them, or any company that I had to constantly call for payment, 1 star (I would give a zero if that were possible).
I was just looking at some companies in SC and saw some comments with 2-3 stars for 60-90+ days payment after many attempts to get payment. I don't understand those high ratings for such companies.
"Do not care how nice and pleasant" -- Ditto!!

Re: There are two listings for The Notary Company
I am responding as a CPA and notary. I suggest you contact the Small Business Administration (SBA) and take their courses. The primary course that you would benefit from is business planning and how to analyze your income and cash flow. Once you have an understanding of these topics, a discussion with SCORE (retired executives) would be helpful.
I an a notary too. From the accounting end I see too many Sch C where the notary does not make a sufficient profit to maintain a life style. Since I have not seen your tax return, I cannot comment on you net profit before taxes/gross income percentage. If this percentage is 10% or less, you might be better working at Walmart. Good luck. You may find your point of view changing once you follow this suggestion.

Linda: agree 100% and I will complain about
HVR about slow pay/no pay as there's no real or implied to extended credit for them based on however they run their business. My guess is the poster has some connection to the company she's trying to stick up for. I see this forum as our place to report and connect w/our constituent notaries.

Re: Linda: agree 100% and I will complain about
I do not believe that the poster has any connection to the company except accepting assignments from them.
I believe that I am the one that prompted her post. I received an offer from this company and when I went into SC there was only a handful of comments and nothing overly recent. It was almost a split between 1 star postings and 4 & 5 Star Postings.
I emailed the poster as she was the most recent 5 star posting and asked if she had had anything more recent then her comments in dealing with this company. She kindly responded to me that she has accepted assignments from this company for a long time now and have not had a problem with them, that they were professional and did what they said they would do.
As I understand, They work MOSTLY with RM companies. If they call you to complete the application package, they will call you to close the loan. They will then pay you for both in the end. If for some reason the Loan doesn't close they will pay you for the application once that is determined. Their rates are also pretty good, I might add!! This is what they indicated to me and that is what it appears that they indicated to the original poster. Maybe it does take a little longer to get paid for the application, but you could also look at it as work and money in the bank. If they are up front and you agree there should not be a complaint.
I found the person I spoke with at this company to be very pleasant. She was interested in my Experience with RM and there is not A LOT of competition in my immediate area. I am happy to give them a chance and with the reference I received from the original poster am not too worried. I guess I will find out if and when they call me back as I will give them a shot.
Don't be so quick to judge someone who compliments or sticks up for another as having an alterior (sp) motive. There are still some good people out there.
