Something to compare our fees to
Here's a site for a new service in the area. Apparently taxi drivers are upset by the service. But I think, for us, it's interesting for price comparison purposes.

This service is paying people to be on-call to drive people around at $35/hour. Now, if we were to compare that to what we're being offered to drive paperwork around, how would our fees look?

That looks kinda fishy... a few things to point out is that they don't "pay" drivers $35/hr, they give them 80% of whatever "Donation" their passengers give Lyft, so I'd think many would be making a lot less.
That said, your point is good. How much would a courier charge to drive docs from A to B ? usually during evenings.... just turned down another low-baller offering $60 for a refi.... maybe I should just start a taxi service...

Lots of extra unknown expenses with Lyft ?
I've heard about this too. It's being touted as a new good source of income for those who have time on their hands. But be careful. The main point of discussion in the articles and comments I read was whether your auto insurance will cover you if you are working in what may be considered a fare for hire occupation. And if fare for hire is actually what the work is, that opens up the proverbial can of worms.

Maybe that is why they identify the 'income' as a
donation.
From their website: $1,000,000 excess liability insurance: The Lyft platform provides drivers with excess liability insurance up to $1,000,000 per occurrence. This first-of-its-kind solution offers peace of mind to both drivers and passengers. Passenger ratings: Drivers rate passengers after every ride, and you’ll be able to see their rating before accepting a pick up. Every passenger also signs up for Lyft using Facebook and provides valid credit card information for identity purposes.

You're right, Bob. It does say drivers can "make up to $35/hour". Kinda like any kind of commission sales--work then see if you make more or less per hour.
It's ironic this came up today as I was considering checking to see what courier and taxi companies charge for their services. Since the remote hiring parties are seeking our services to travel to their loan clients, we ought to at least be paid for the costs charged by the courier and taxi services, right?

There is not enough money out there to make me want to do this job. I'm thinking robberies and deaths in this type of career (it does happen). Too many desperate people out there.

It seems Bob was the only one who got my point--our FEES should not be less than what courier/taxi/driver businesses charge to transport from one point to another. That would include trips to the signing & to drop off docs. Add the amounts we should receive for our professional expertise, and it is obvious the offers aren't logical.
And Karla's point of potential dangers are also a part of our business too. Only difference is we're not confined in a vehicle with the potential criminal.
But my point is not suggesting this as a way to make money, hence my comment about commission work.
