Title Source Fees
I am in the process of registering with Title Source. I notice that the fees you have to agree to are very low. Do they normally meet your fees or am I missing something?

If you want more work, accept their fees. If their fees are too low for you to make a profit, reconsider accepting their fees and counter with your fees. I do not work with TS, but I would be hesitant to do so from what I have read about the company.

They have been great to work with so far. Yes, I counter offered. Not sure how that effects the amount of work I have received from them but I am always happy to hear from them.

Remember that TS really likes '1 fee/all inclusive' (unmentioned faxbacks...getting them to pay for excess mileage is difficult, tho' not impossible)

Until the interest rates went up I had no problem getting work from them. It's slow for almost everyone right now. And no you don't have to accept their fee once your in their system you can post your fees for each county in their database. My experience is whatever the fee is under your name in their database ( whether their contact fee or your stated fee) they are non negotiable when they call to book a closing.

As with anyone, YOU tell them what your fees are. They decide if they will do business with you. Just remember when giving TS your fee schedule, whatever fee you quote them is all-inclusive. Their schedulers will not negotiate with you.
As to what fees they accept, it depends on your location and what other notaries in your area are willing to accept.
For example, I'm in Northern California (Sacramento area - Placer County). My $125 edoc fee is barely acceptable to them. Usually, that is my base edoc fee. My county is extended and includes some mountainous (snow in winter) roads with hair-pin turns - this takes additional time to navigate those roads. Sometimes, a 2-hour 1-way trip. With TS, you quote them your fee per county you cover. When TS calls me for a signing in my county, I'm careful to accept only for driving distance I can accommodate for that base fee.
Now, I know for a fact, from another notary in Central California (Tulare County), she gave them her fee. TS told her that was too low and they pay her $175 per signing. Obviously, there aren't many notaries in her area and/or those that are there have priced their services well.
A couple of of years ago, I raised my fees to TS to accommodate all my area. They quit calling me. A year later, I revised my fees to reflect my base fee for each county I cover. Still no word. Recently, I was doing some e-marketing, including to TS. Received response that I don't hear from them 'cause my bgc expired 3/13 and they only accept NNA bgc. I immediately sent her my NNA bgc which was issued 2/28/13. A week later (8/22), they called me for a signing within the prescribed area. I gladly accepted. The next day, they call for something outside that area. I told the scheduler that unfortunately my base fee would not cover that distance. Shame on me for being honest. Haven't heard back from them since. I know it's been slow, so, we'll see how it goes.
This is just my experience with them. And, they do pay like clock-work.

Re: Same here and was told my fees were/are higher than some SSs
That well may be. But, have they stopped to notice what those SS's that they're using are producing? Most of the SS's they're using pay the notary ~$75 per signing. TS themselves hesitate about paying much more than that.
IMO, most accomplished and efficient NSA's, won't work for less than $100 per signing. Ergo, again IMO, they pay less ... they get less. Why else are they generating and requiring those training courses!?! From what I've seen of those training courses, it's all basic 101 NSA information and should've been learned PRIOR to accepting that first signing.
Again, this is just my opinion.

The most interesting thing is that
I was conducting 15 - 25 signings a month from 2011 until earlier this year.
My guess, is that there are more NSAs and/or SSs in the coverage area that are now working with TSI, possible with a lower fee structure.
The flavor of the month is always changing.

I hear from them once a month if I'm lucky. They pay my fee but I'm sure that's why I hear from them so little. They must start at the lower rates first.

OMG just got ANOTHER assigned training from TS
I agree with the person who said that perhaps all the required training is because TS has been getting shoddy work received back from the cheaper notaries hired by SS. I have not heard directly from TS since January 2012. I am also wondering about how come when TS hires directly they require BGC from vendors, but when SS hires the cheapest notary apparently the BGC requirement goes out the window.

They always met my fee
while in Michigan. Although I would like to think I was the only notary covering the area where the assignments were located, I know that's not the case. But the fee was reasonable and fair, in fact they were broken down into what I came to call my three "categories": refis with edocs that were close, refis with edocs that weren't that close, but in the next county over and out of my base area, and refis where the docs/copies were overnighted to the borrower. So it may have been more a matter of geographics then anything else. And at that time the assignments were all Quicken related.

TS has always been good to me. I find that the fees are nego. Not always but in special circumstances. Plus they have EFT, which means you get paid faster. Don't get nearly as much work as in the past, but who does. May have to make changes to profile. A job that pays $20. Less is better than no job, as long as there is still some profit margin.

"A job that pays $20. Less is better than no job" Really???
It's that attitude that enables TC/SS to reduce our fees. As long as there are NSA's willing to accept lower fees, our fees will dwindle. And, as more unemployed adults seek extra ways to put food on their family's table, more newbies will enter our already over-saturated industry, further diluting our limited earnings. JMHO
