doing what you feel is right

Yesterday I notarized a Will as instructed by an attorney. While doing so, I noticed the “attester” kept tugging at his pants. He informed me they don’t have air-conditioning and it was hot. He added, the pants fit in the past but because he had lost twenty pounds, they wouldn't stay up. He had pinned them but because of his shaken hand, kept “sticking” himself when trying to adjust the size. He was also wheelchair bound.

So it bothers me all night long. This morning I went into my closet and got a pair of jogging pants and a pair of shorts, too small for me (ever) and took them there. Why? Because there was nobody who cared, no signings/work and everybody else complaining!

Good for you! God bless you! What did the man say upon your return with the clothing? I do thing like that too, simply because it is the right thing to do!

I asked the "Director of the facility" to present it as a gift from an anonymous donor!

Good work! You are truly to be thanked. Sometimes you just have to be a little more observant and proactive than those around you. You did just that!

Best thing to do in life--find a need & fill it. There's no

shortage of the need of kindness in the world we live in.
God bless you, James! ;-)

Re: Best thing to do in life--find a need & fill it. There's no

at a signing, of a wheelchair bound lady (I don't know how we got on this topic while briefly chatting afterwords) but she mentioned she was taking injections by pen. I told I did too, and had some too big needles that I got for free from my health provider, could not return them, 200 in 2 unopened boxes & asked if she wanted to see if she could use them. They were in the car as I was going to leave them w/my local (rural) doc for someone w/no health insurance. Anyway, sure enough, perfect for her. I stayed to chat because she was living in a really crappy house and I did not want to give the impression I could not wait to get out of there. We did not chat about the paperwork involved in the signing as that would be inappropriate--but all of us God's creatures have something in common! PS I can say really crappy house because I had to live in one for more years than I thought ever possible. Sorry, belongs in "Liesure"

What bothered me most was no seamstress there!

...something (a problem) we could take care of with little effort. That's why I posted...but I also thnk. that's part of what NOTARIES do!

Kudos..Sometimes in life we just have to do something and it doesnt always have to be a big thing to make a difference..

I like to pay for the car behind me when Im at a drive thru..Its never much money..the cashier smiles when I tell them to tell the car thats its paid for, the people behind me smile and I smile too..Like I said it doesnt take much to make someones day!

Thank you NotarySigner for the sweet story.

I think it takes a certain kind of person to be a notary: someone who puts integrity first. Thanks for helping that man.

When I was married to my first husband, he wanted to be "in ministry" at our church. He spent all his time there "ministering". Basically, because of this, he was never home, and the family suffered. Instead of having a "great ministry", he dropped the ball on the only people that God gave him to help: his family. We divorced. It took me a long time to realize (for me) that the greatest "ministry" is not being in front of a huge church or up on the TV screen (like my husband wanted to be), but to minister (serve) the people in our sphere of influence: our family and the people we meet in our lives. The ministers in the big churches or on the TV, cannot come down and do the jobs of parents, spouses, siblings or whatever in our lives. They cannot reach through the TV and help this attestor and give him jogging pants. But "WE" can. I am not trying to bring up pros or cons of large ministries, I am saying that "I believe" the GREATEST ministry for anyone (whether they believe in God or not), is helping the people that come into our lives. Thank you for helping this man. (I am not trying to be preachy, I am trying to share something that took me a long time to learn.) Again, thank you for helping him.

I agree with you 100% I had to become a survivor to get to

where I am now. I have a sign I made which says, "help someone today"! It's the first thing I see when I wake up!
