If that is in fact true, then as you pointed out about his testimony on May 3rd would be just one area of questions he should have to address.
Also, imo, if the memos over his carer were his way of a little CYA (which I could 100% understand), one would think that he would also need to address the legal question itself and why he did not immediately inform the DOJ of what such "requests" appeared to be considering the status of him remaining in his current position was also supposedly discussed at the same time the requests were made.
Overall, I am willing to wait for the investigation(s) to be completed before passing final judgment, however, honestly, I can see Trump asking for a loyalty pledge, asking for investigations to be dropped, and even asking if he was currently a target of an investigation all while at the same time basically threatening Comey's job. I'm not saying that he did these things, just that it would not surprise me if it came out that the evidence proved such. I can see him as such a business man. I can also see him as someone who either would not think such a thing would be wrong, or even illegal -- without realizing there is a difference in the private sector and in government officials conduct.
If he could ever discipline himself to stop worrying about what everyone thinks about him, stop being so freaking thin-skinned, and focus on doing what he was elected to do, he, and the country, would be so much better off, imo. |
