"Jared saw that he co-authored a book on China. He happened to see it on Amazon. Sheesh."
How does that distort the truth? Jared was told to find an economist that was familiar with China. He did a search on Amazon for books on trade with China and found one written by Navarro. Prior to that, he had no idea who Navarro was, but he suggested Navarro. Had he looked into Navarro's credentials, he would have seen that his theories are not in keeping with those of most other economists, which should have raised questions. What part of that is untrue or a distortion of the truth?
