Wallace has always been considered fair but tough and overall, a very good debate moderator by most politicians and just about all in the journalism business. That format hurt his reputation, imo, simply because he was unable to get control of both of them at times, but mainly Trump. Aside from that, the format was the worst I have ever seen for a debate. It was ready made for both of them to just squabble and talk over each other to the point that no one (meaning us, the public) benefited. Sad.
After about 20-30 min into it, my nephew described the debate "Like watching two toddlers arguing". I have to agree with him. |
