President Biden today, in remarks he made at a Volvo manufacturing plant, joked that he was unaware there were so many Republican Socialists in Congress.
What he was referring to was the bipartisan Infrastructure Act that hard-line Republicans voted against, calling it "socialism". Some of those Republicans who called it socialism are now quietly asking (begging?) that the Feds send some of that money their way so they could help their constituents. Paul Gosar, one of the biggest opponents of the bill, has sent 3 letters requesting funds for use in his district.
This is just another example of Republicans voting against a bill that passes without their support and then reaping the benefits and crowing to their constituent about what they've done for them without mentioning the fact that they voted against the bill.
These acts are intended to help ALL Americans, not just those who support Biden. I have no problem with the opposition requesting their piece of the pie, but be honest about it. If you called it a part of the socialist agenda, why are you asking for some of the proceeds? And why aren't you explaining to your voters that you opposed the bill even though they benefit from it? If you truly think it's socialism and you claim to be opposed to socialism, why are you quietly embracing it?
Just more hypocrisy - anything to get votes, alleged principles be damned. |
