I don't quite understand what you're saying about Firefox. My default browser is Edge. However, I do have several other browsers on my system just in case ....
Anyway, reading your post, I understood you to mean you cannot access the Google Password Manager when using Firefox. I switched over to Firefox, entered Google Password Manager in the "search" box. Came right up after an ID verification step.
Using Chrome should have no issues to get to Password Manager as Chrome is a Google product.
To answer your initial question, I use the Google Password Manager. It's free and I've never had any issue with it -- knock on wood.
