Re: How would you handle an overpayment?

I had a company that paid me for several separate trips to get deeds recorded in various Vermont towns. Their processes for keeping track of things seemed to be not so great; they were constantly being confused because deeds in VT are recorded in the town clerk's office, not in the county clerk's office. One time I couldn't do it because they wanted me to go to a nearby town, but it was really for a different town a few hours away.

They kept paying me for it, even when I sent the checks back. Finally I sent them a statement for the entire year, showing a 0 balance. That allowed them to get it straightened out.
