An "industry standard" means nothing when we have a fully booked day and we tell them in advance what our drop dead time is. If we don't get docs by then and we've told them that we'll have to give it back if that happens, then we can't be responsible for the consequences. We can only give them a few options, based on the circumstances - like turning it back or pushing them to the end of the day or some other time we might have open. If they know in advance and they're not sure they can meet our deadline, they should just find someone else.
This is an issue that kind of bleeds into the IC issue. If they're going to expect notaries to sit around waiting, unable to do anything else and/or rearranging our schedules to accommodate them, then they should be paying for that non-productive time. Micromanaging our time puts us into the employee category. |
