Because I try to always stay in control of the signing, I would have asked them why they wanted my DL before I even took it out of my wallet. If they only wanted to identify me as who I said I was, I would have given them my business card and perhaps held my DL up for them to compare. No way would I have released it to them.

As others have said, we have a legitimate and required reason for a copy of their IDs; they do not need to know anything more about us than that we are independent representatives there to help them complete their loan process.

Since they have it, I have no clue how you can successfully retrieve it and/or the information it contains.
