honor our agreed upon fee. I've done so many times and the confirmation almost always come with our agreed upon fee. if not, I reply with friendly reminder and they update.
Point being: its worth a conversation with companies you have worked for previously to see if they would agree to this arrangement.
As for accepting a fee then asking for more after confirmation, is not something I would do.
