I hope I can share another point of view with you. As a signing agent and a scheduler for one of these "deadbeat" companies I need to point out the signing services are being put into a difficult position by both the clients and notarys. We're waiting 90+ days to be paid by the lenders - and this trickles down to you. The average number of mistakes on a signing is 3 and our fee gets reduce for every mistake a notary makes. It hard for the signing services to fight for premium pay when all their getting from the Notarys is medicore service. Also, the notary fee on the ALTA statement - less than 50% goes to the signing company. And before you start blasting me, let me just say yes, I'm all for protecting ourselves against lost wages and I know there are companies that deserve the distinction of deadbeat. But before you sling more mud, maybe you should be sure you're aiming it at the right person. |
