Cari, I took your post ( Msg #581368 ) to mean that enotarizations would not be accepted for recording in Illinois because all notarizations must follow the same law that Illinois notaries must follow. Your followup message ( Msg #581368 ) shows that county recorders are not required to accept any records they do not have the technology to support, but does say that notary acknowledgements can be accepted if the county recorder does have the technology to support the record.
You referred to the Illinois Notary Public Handbook, but that handbook and the laws it reproduces are all about how Illinois notaries are required to carry out their duties. The handbook does not describe at all whether out-of-state notarizations will be accepted.
The Illinois Uniform Recognition of Acknowledgements Act indicates that notarizations performed out-of-state by a person authorized to perform the notarial act in the state where the act was performed will be accepted.
