Gosh, it's really bad all the time for you guys. I was born in CA way back when, and the worst thing my parents talked about was a mudslide hitting their door. Insurance must be outrageously high over there.
Sounds scary. A hurricane is nothing to a roaring inferno moving so fast and surrounding you and burning alive, nd all the poor animals as well.
If it were me, I would make a homemade sprinkler system running a hose and rotating garden sprinkler to my roof and leave it on so no embers stick. One on each corner.
