Docs will never be in Spanish in the USA...I believe it's a personal business call to use a translator. Where I worked, they stopped using relatives, NSA and realtors as translators, which tells me, something went south along the way and a liability of translating wrong. I don't think it's "law" however, if you have a realtor or NSA who translated their interpretation and the buyer cannot read English, could be an issue if they ever went to court, and then being the NSA who translated comes into question. Sort of the same as a blind person attending the closing. They have to be read the documents...make their own determination.
I have found that most Spanish speakers do understand English for the most part, but again, I think it's a personal call, and would never volunteer to translate documents and take the liability myself. I think most Spanish speaking NSA's do here and don't fully realize their responsibility in doing so if the borrower defaulted on that loan, and then claiming they didn't understand and cannot read what they signed. jmo
